Every so often, the sayings of Casey Stengel come to mind. The longtime manager of the New York Yankees, accustomed to a Prussian professionalism, moved over to the astonishingly hapless New York Mets in 1962 and, surveying his new team, uttered an exasperated question: “Can’t anybody here play this game?” What applied to those Mets applies now to the Obama administration. In the Middle East, it’s no hits and plenty of errors.

The arena of the administration’s incompetence is the issue of West Bank settlements. This is something of a misnomer since while some of the settlements are recklessly deep into the West Bank – Ariel (above), for instance – others are indistinguishable parts of Jerusalem. They are all, under international law, illegal. But some, regardless of legality, are going to stay. Even in the Middle East, common sense can play a role. The Jerusalem-area settlements are not going to be abandoned by Israel.

The man who occupies the Oval Office showed the Iranian world just how weak and pensive he is in responding to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s remarks at the United Nations. On a Persian-language BBC satellite channel, the US president characterized Ahmadinejad’s remarks by saying, “It was offensive. It was hateful. And particularly for him to make the statement here in Manhattan, just a little north of ground zero, where families lost their loved ones – people of all faiths, all ethnicities, who see this as the seminal tragedy of this generation – for him to make a statement like that was inexcusable.” Hardly strong words by the president with even less action.

“Offensive,” “hateful,” “inexcusable.” Those are very nice words describing a madman who wants all the Jews in Israel exterminated, calls America “the great satan,” and demands for investigations as to whether the Holocaust ever occurred. The video of the president when he was answering the question about Ahmadinejad’s claim that the US government orchestrated the 9/11 terrorist attacks was typical–a professor-type approach giving the impression that his feelings were hurt by what Ahmadinejad had to say. To the terrorist world, this response had to be considered an indicator of weakness and a lack of will to do anything beyond sanctions to stand up for a free America.

He reiterated that his administration offered to “change the dynamic that has been in place since 1979″, meaning he offered talks with Ahmadinejad, but that the Iranian regime “has been unwilling to change its orientation.” Yet one might consider it strange that Ahmadinejad met with Louis Farrakahn and representatives of the New Black Panther Party. Farrakahn was a friend of the US president’s pastor and the New Black Panther Party leadership recently had voter intimidation charges dropped against them by the president’s political appointees at the Justice Department. This begs the question as to whether Farrakahn and the New Black Panthers were emissaries of the White House to Ahmandinejad.

If the president truly finds Ahmadinejad offensive and hateful, and he knows that Ahmadinejad is sponsoring terrorism around the world, why then is Ahmadinejad allowed to come onto American soil, cast insults at the American people, and meet with leaders of anti-American factions with impunity? Why aren’t Ahmadinejad, Farrakahn and the New Black Panthers arrested and tried for the laws they have broken? Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” The president won’t touch Ahmadinejad, the Black Panthers, or Farrakahn, but he has filed a complaint at the UN that Arizona is violating human rights with its border security law.

For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt."

by Bill Wilson, The Daily Jot

When the LORD God was trying to convince the Pharaoh of Egypt to free the Israelites, plagues came upon Egypt. One of the plagues described in Exodus10:14, 15: “And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such. For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.”

This was the eighth plague sent upon Egypt because the Pharaoh was a stubborn man with a hardened heart. And more plagues were sent upon he and his people before he gave in to the will of the LORD. The LORD gives plenty of warnings to those whom he wishes to persuade. And like Egypt of old, America should examine itself as a nation and as a people and try to discern what the LORD is after. America has had costly natural disasters. America has had political disruption such as a nearly decade long war against terrorist forces. America has had tremendous financial disaster brought on by its elected leadership. And all the while, the leadership continues to say there is more than one way to heaven.

Now a plague of a different sort is annoying all who live within 200 miles of Washington, D.C. It is causing damages from 20- to 100% on farms across Maryland, Pennsylvania and up the New England coastline. It is invading houses by the millions. Maryland Republican Congressman Roscoe Bartlett recently organized a briefing on the threat, bringing together congressional staff, regional and federal agricultural officials and others to understand the problem and to try to find ways to combat it. Bartlett was quoted in the Baltimore Sun saying, “If you wanted to design a terrorist bug, it would have the features of the brown marmorated stink bug.”

Yes, the plague is called the stink bug. It is a bug thought to have made its way to the United States in containers shipped from China. And if one smashes the bug, it will take no time to know why it is called the stink bug. It has no natural predators and its population is exploding. The irony is that this bug is invading the area surrounding the nation’s Capitol–the NBC affiliate in Washington, DC led with the story “Stink Bugs taking area by storm.” Indeed, we have been gathering up hundreds of stink bugs each morning in our windows and on our walls. Perhaps the stink bug from China is a not so subtle message about the leadership in America and Americans’ tolerance of it.

This fact marks our political age: The pendulum is swinging faster and in shorter arcs than it ever has in our lifetimes. Few foresaw the earthquake of 2008 in 2006. No board-certified political professional predicted, on Election Day 2008, what happened in 2009-10 (New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts) and has been happening, and will happen, since then. It all moves so quickly now, it all turns on a dime.

But at this moment we are witnessing a shift that will likely have some enduring political impact. Another way of saying that: The past few years, a lot of people in politics have wondered about the possibility of a third party. Would it be possible to organize one? While they were wondering, a virtual third party was being born. And nobody organized it.

The White House is opposed, but this fight is likely to be the first of many as Americans discover — as Nancy Pelosi once famously predicted — what’s in the bill.

The Senate will vote on amendments to the White House small business bill that would rescind an ObamaCare mandate that companies track and submit to the IRS all business-to-business transactions over $600 annually. Democrats tucked the 1099 reporting footnote into the bill to raise an estimated $17.1 billion, part of the effort to claim that ObamaCare reduces the deficit by $100 billion or so.

The aftermath of the Tuesday primaries across the country is being discussed and analyzed by all the pundits. Headlines say that TEA Party supported candidates scored big in New York and Delaware with New Hampshire still in the balance and added to victories in Utah, Nevada, Kentucky, Colorado and Alaska. Establishment Republicans–translated moderates and liberals–are beside themselves as they are seeing their grip on the party slip away to the unrefined, unsophisticated TEA Party neophytes. Democrats see their only hope in November of maintaining the socialist status quo being hoisted upon the dividing block between stubborn Republicans who will never support one another.

Former President Bill Clinton said it best, as reported by Associated Press, that the Republican Party is pushing out pragmatic voices in favor of candidates that make former President George W. Bush “look like a liberal.” This is a very astute observation by the former philanderer of state. By George W. Bush’s record, he is a liberal–compassionate conservatism is liberalism in disguise with a very few conservative trimmings to keep conservatives in the big tent. But Clinton’s remarks show just how far left the debate has shifted on contemporary politics in America–when a true conservative candidate cannot win an election without being chastised as a non-pragmatic radical.

TEA Party candidates are relying on the common sense and decency that is part of being called an American to propel them to victory in November. The TEA Party is about as close to anarchism this country has seen since the volatile 1960s. Only these are not radical communists, but rather peaceful Americans trying to take their country back. They are attacking the Republican Party because it is a party fractured by establishment liberals and grass roots conservatives. The Democratic Party is a party united in liberalism. To turn the country away from humanist socialist policies, the only political hope is found in pounding the stake of debate in the political ground far right and making others shift the debate toward it.

But there is another hope. That in this national debate of whether socialism is the new America, citizens might repent from from believing the lie that humanism can replace God. Jesus told us in Matthew 6:24, “No man can serve two masters…Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” The TEA Party wants to keep the debate on Constitutional and economic issues. All well and good. But let us not forget the wisdom of George Washington who said, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens.”

In calling for a spiritual revival in America at his Lincoln Memorial rally Aug. 28, talk show host Glenn Beck reached back into history and touched on a familiar theme.

What would a genuine revival look like and how did those that have transformed America several times in the past get started? Earlier revivals were not created from the mobilization of large crowds. They occurred when people did something infrequently observed in modern times: humbled themselves.

The prospects are dim but the process is right. The Obama administration is to be commended for structuring the latest rounds of Middle East talks correctly. Finally, we’re leaving behind interim agreements, of which the most lamentable were the Oslo accords of 1993.

The logic then was that issues so complicated could be addressed only step by step in the expectation that things get easier over time. In fact, they got harder. Israel made concrete concessions — bringing in Yasser Arafat to run the West Bank and Gaza — in return for which Israel received growing threats, continuous incitement, and finally a full-scale terror war that killed more than a thousand innocent Israelis.

Hurricane Earl is wrecking havoc on the East Coast of the United States. It is no mere coincidence that this is occurring at the very same time the White House is trying to force Israel back into peace talks with terrorists who vow in Arabic to destroy Israel and teach their children to hate Jews, but put suits and ties on for the American public and try to play the victim of warmongering Israelis. Does anyone recall that Katrina hit New Orleans about the same time the Bush Administration was trying to force Israel to give up land for peace? These so-called natural catastrophes occur nearly every time America tries to force Israel into giving up something to the terrorists for peace.

This round of Washington, DC peace talks certainly looks one sided. The Administration has featured discussions with the President of Egypt, the King of Jordan and the loosely elected president-in-name-only of the Palestinians-in-name-only Mahmoud Abbas. The man who occupies the Oval Office appears to believe that by featuring the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and the Bush Administration’s propped up version of moderate terrorist Palestine that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will get the picture that he needs to give up Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria to the Arab terrorists to secure a lasting peace.

Isn’t is a strategy of satan himself to use Israel’s only modern ally to pressure it into giving up the traditional Biblical lands of the Israelites to those who were prophesied by an angel of the LORD in Genesis whose “hand will be against every man”? Couple this with a truly peace loving people and it becomes a real paradox. I know from my visit to Israel and extensive discussions prior and since with Israelis, that they want peace above all else. They want their children to grow up without the threat of a terrorist killing them because they are Jews. And many in Israel are willing to do most anything to have this peace. They are willing, to an extent, to give up their land, if only the threat of terrorism would subside.

Those who have studied Islam and know the doctrine of this warlord political system masquerading as a religion know that peace is never possible without complete submission. Thus, the Biblical prophecies of the Gog/Magog war, Damascus being destroyed, the anti-christ, Revelation and more. A friend of mine told me that the Holy Spirit gave him a simple prayer that everyone should know. It goes like this: Lord Jesus, may we bless Abba’s Holy City Jerusalem, His people Israel, and Abba’s Holy Mountain, Mt Zion. This is not unlike Psalm 122:6, “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” Do we need a reminder of a hurricane or the discernment of evil to exhort us to do the will of God?

Bill Keller is this on fire-for-the-Lord internet evangelist who founded LivePrayer.com. I have known Bill for about five years and believe him to be a take-no-prisoners, Bible believing, Bible teaching man. He is not one to see a problem and cower away from it, he attacks it. He was criticized years ago for going on Howard Stern. But Bill handled Howard Stern and because of his appearances on Stern’s show, literally thousands came to the Lord, recommitted their lives to the Lord and thanked Bill for being so bold as to bring Christ to Stern’s airwaves. He has the emails and letters to prove it. Now Bill is off on another mission–to counter the Islamic Center and Mosque to be built near Ground Zero in New York.

Bill says, “How do you battle the darkness? With the LIGHT! I watched in disbelief a few weeks ago as they announced the Muslims would be building a $110 million mosque just a few blocks from where their Muslim brothers perpetrated the greatest act of terror on US soil in history, deliberately flying planes into the World Trade Center towers, knocking them down and killing 3,000 innocent souls in the process. The gall, the arrogance, the audacity of this false religion of violence, hate, and death to build their temple to satan just blocks from that hallowed ground.” So Bill decided to do something about it.

Beginning this Sunday, September 5, he will begin having services at the “9-11 Christian Center at Ground Zero.” He will be holding services every Sunday at 11 am at the New York Marriott at 85 West Street–one block from ground zero. There will be services 7 days a week and a “9-11 Memorial Prayer Room” for those who visit Ground Zero and want to stop and pray. Bill says, “The mission is simple. Have a place at ground zero where people can come to hear the real uncompromised Truth right from God’s Word, and find the only true hope there is, faith in Jesus Christ!!!” He said he is not starting just another church–services will be like the soul winning “old time evangelistic meetings.”

The opposition to this new church is tremendous. Bill wrote in his daily email that “every left leaning website has been covering our opening. It is amazing how they all could not wait to support the victory mosque, but have gone after me with a vengeance, calling me every horrible name you could think of in the process.” But these attempts to discourage only make Bill Keller more determined. He says, “I have a secret to share with you today. The people in this world are looking for hope.” The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 12:21, “Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.” This is an example of how we as Christians can change the world if we are obedient to the Lord.

In recent American history three presidents, Republicans Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush–and Democrat icon John Fitzgerald Kennedy–all lowered taxes in response to economic recessions. In all three cases, more money flowed into federal coffers than expected, and all three recessions ended.

In 2003, President Bush lowered income, capital gains and dividend tax rates. As a result of the Bush tax cuts, the amount of revenue flowing into the federal Treasury over the next four years surged by over 40%, or $743 billion. To illustrate how the tax cuts boosted the economy, Gross Domestic Product grew at an annual rate of just 1.7% in the six quarters before the 2003 tax cuts. In the six quarters following the tax cuts, the growth rate was a robust 4.1%. While some of that growth was naturally occurring, the sudden and dramatic turnaround in the economy began at the exact moment those pro-growth policies were enacted.

by Russell D. Moore, Moore to the Point

A Mormon television star stands in front of the Lincoln Memorial and calls American Christians to revival. He assembles some evangelical celebrities to give testimonies, and then preaches a God and country revivalism that leaves the evangelicals cheering that they’ve heard the gospel, right there in the nation’s capital.

The news media pronounces him the new leader of America’s Christian conservative movement, and a flock of America’s Christian conservatives have no problem with that.

If you’d told me that ten years ago, I would have assumed it was from the pages of an evangelical apocalyptic novel about the end-times. But it’s not. It’s from this week’s headlines. And it is a scandal.

Fox News commentator Glenn Beck, of course, is that Mormon at the center of all this. Beck isn’t the problem. He’s an entrepreneur, he’s brilliant, and, hats off to him, he knows his market. Latter-day Saints have every right to speak, with full religious liberty, in the public square. I’m quite willing to work with Mormons on various issues, as citizens working for the common good. What concerns me here is not what this says about Beck or the “Tea Party” or any other entertainment or political figure. What concerns me is about what this says about the Christian churches in the United States.

It’s taken us a long time to get here, in this plummet from Francis Schaeffer to Glenn Beck. In order to be this gullible, American Christians have had to endure years of vacuous talk about undefined “revival” and “turning America back to God” that was less about anything uniquely Christian than about, at best, a generically theistic civil religion and, at worst, some partisan political movement.

Rather than cultivating a Christian vision of justice and the common good (which would have, by necessity, been nuanced enough to put us sometimes at odds with our political allies), we’ve relied on populist God-and-country sloganeering and outrage-generating talking heads. We’ve tolerated heresy and buffoonery in our leadership as long as with it there is sufficient political “conservatism” and a sufficient commercial venue to sell our books and products.

Too often, and for too long, American “Christianity” has been a political agenda in search of a gospel useful enough to accommodate it. There is a liberation theology of the Left, and there is also a liberation theology of the Right, and both are at heart mammon worship. The liberation theology of the Left often wants a Barabbas, to fight off the oppressors as though our ultimate problem were the reign of Rome and not the reign of death. The liberation theology of the Right wants a golden calf, to represent religion and to remind us of all the economic security we had in Egypt. Both want a Caesar or a Pharaoh, not a Messiah.

Leaders will always be tempted to bypass the problem behind the problems: captivity to sin, bondage to the accusations of the demonic powers, the sentence of death. That’s why so many of our Christian superstars smile at crowds of thousands, reassuring them that they don’t like to talk about sin. That’s why other Christian celebrities are seen to be courageous for fighting their culture wars, while they carefully leave out the sins most likely to be endemic to the people paying the bills in their movements.

Where there is no gospel, something else will fill the void: therapy, consumerism, racial or class resentment, utopian politics, crazy conspiracy theories of the left, crazy conspiracy theories of the right; anything will do. The prophet Isaiah warned us of such conspiracies replacing the Word of God centuries ago (Is. 8:12–20). As long as the Serpent’s voice is heard, “You shall not surely die,” the powers are comfortable.

This is, of course, not new. Our Lord Jesus faced this test when Satan took him to a high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the earth, and their glory. Satan did not mind surrendering his authority to Jesus. He didn’t mind a universe without pornography or Islam or abortion or nuclear weaponry. Satan did not mind Judeo-Christian values. He wasn’t worried about “revival” or “getting back to God.” What he opposes was the gospel of Christ crucified and resurrected for the sins of the world.

We used to sing that old gospel song, “I will cling to an old rugged cross, and exchange it some day for a crown.” The scandalous scene at the Lincoln Memorial indicates that many of us want to exchange it in too soon. To Jesus, Satan offered power and glory. To us, all he needs offer is celebrity and attention.

Mormonism and Mammonism are contrary to the gospel of Jesus Christ. They offer another Lord Jesus than the One offered in the Scriptures and Christian tradition, and another way to approach him. An embrace of these tragic new vehicles for the old Gnostic heresy is unloving to our Mormon friends and secularist neighbors, and to the rest of the watching world. Any “revival” that is possible without the Lord Jesus Christ is a “revival” of a different kind of spirit than the Spirit of Christ (1 Jn. 4:1-3).

The answer to this scandal isn’t a retreat, as some would have it, to an allegedly apolitical isolation. Such attempts lead us right back here, in spades, to a hyper-political wasteland. If the churches are not forming consciences, consciences will be formed by the status quo, including whatever demagogues can yell the loudest or cry the hardest. The answer isn’t a narrowing sectarianism, retreating further and further into our enclaves. The answer includes local churches that preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, and disciple their congregations to know the difference between the kingdom of God and the latest political whim.

It’s sad to see so many Christians confusing Mormon politics or American nationalism with the gospel of Jesus Christ. But, don’t get me wrong, I’m not pessimistic. Jesus will build his church, and he will build it on the gospel. He doesn’t need American Christianity to do it. Vibrant, loving, orthodox Christianity will flourish, perhaps among the poor of Haiti or the persecuted of Sudan or the outlawed of China, but it will flourish.

And there will be a new generation, in America and elsewhere, who will be ready for a gospel that is more than just Fox News at prayer.

By Jan Markell, Olive Tree Ministries

Could we say that the church has failed to wake up very many people so, by default, a Mormon — Glenn Beck — has made quite a stir and has become an official spiritual leader? He rallied hundreds of thousands last weekend with themes of faith and love of our country. Americans are desperate and fearful of what is coming upon this land so they look to a Mormon for leadership. I am glad his Saturday event was successful for just some of these reasons:

* Americans came to celebrate America after the highest leaders in our land have trashed her around the world.
* They focused on what was right in America and they also honored our military.
* Faith and patriotism were lifted up — two items that the Left despises.
* Attendees were passionate — traveling thousands of miles and, once arriving in D.C., walking for miles, even if handicapped.
* Conservative Americans must gather together to fortify one another. Such events strengthen one another and offer hope. Finding kindred spirits in a depressing age is essential.
* Whether the Left heard or not, the attendees sent a message that they are fed up. November is around the corner and they had better look out.

In light of the positive aspects of the honoring America weekend, could there possibly be a down side? I tried to do a fair and balanced radio program last Saturday, August 28, with Brannon Howse, former Mormon Ed Decker, and apologetics’ expert Eric Barger. We raised a few issues, and you can hear them here. I have received some thanks for the honesty and integrity of the two hours, and a few hate e-mails and calls for the position the panel took, which will be explained in the paragraphs below.

The theme of the Friday gathering of spiritual leaders and the Saturday rally was an encouragement to turn back to God. The not-so-subtle theme was “many faiths, but one God.”

I believe many conservative Christians would have been relieved if Glenn had not brought out Mormon doctrine that very few are familiar with. He stated at the Saturday event that the American Indians are the “chosen people” — blatant Mormon doctrine. The crowd applauded in approval. You can view that here at the 4:30 mark.

He stated — and has affirmed this on his radio and television programs — that God is the only answer. While much was troublesome last weekend, who else is sticking their neck out saying we have to turn back to God and gathering hundreds of thousands in the process? It would be wonderful if Franklin Graham or even Joel Rosenberg could attract a half-million people and deliver the true gospel. We aren’t quite there yet. Again, by default, we defer to Glenn Beck.

The weekend opened on Friday night, Augsust 27, with Glenn’s “Divine Destiny” program which again, is straight out of Mormonism. Many participants have implied, or blatantly stated, that Glenn is a “saved Mormon” or on the way to becoming one.

Friend and frequent radio guest John McTernan, was present both days just to observe. He writes on his blog, “There were several prayers offered at the Friday event and none were made in the name of Jesus. I was deeply grieved after I left.

“On Saturday, I attended the rally. If it had been just political, I could accept Beck as a leader; however, it went way beyond that. I am not questioning anything about Beck’s character or motives. What I am deeply grieved about is that this was not led by the real church of the Lord Jesus Christ. Is America in such desperate spiritual condition that masses of Christians will follow a Mormon for spiritual revival?”

McTernan continues, “The sheep in America are desperate and fearful of what is coming, so they look to a Mormon for leadership. A Mormon leading a meeting like this for America turning back to God should have God-fearing pastors in America on their knees crying out to God for mercy. I am grieved, not so much with Glenn Beck, but that the church is so pitifully weak that a Mormon can now lead God’s people, and they do not see the spiritual danger.”

What are major Mormon beliefs and how do they play into this scenario? When God is the professed focus of the August 27-28 weekend, what is the deeper meaning? And Glenn is outspoken about his Mormon faith. He so-stated that fact many times over the weekend and in the weeks and months leading up to it. It was not subtle or hidden. But Glenn does not bring out the bullet points below because it reads like science fiction.

Mormon theology teaches:
* God was born and raised on another planet.
* He has a harem of wives.
* They produce spirit-babies that are sent to earth; there they gain bodies and earn sainthood.
* Jesus is the brother of Lucifer.
* Jesus is the chosen/elected savior by a council of gods from other worlds.
* America is the promised land, not Israel. The holy city is Independence, Missouri, not Jerusalem. Jesus’ latter-day agenda is to return to Missouri.
* The U.S. Constitution is as sacred as the Book of Mormon. In the latter days, it will be under siege and will be saved by Mormons. Thus, we must “reclaim America” to save the Constitution and usher in a genuine age of Mormon leadership. They want to build a Mormon kingdom on earth, similar to modern day Dominionists/Kingdom Now proponents within Christianity. Founder Joseph Smith had a socialistic philosophy and wished to have a society that shared things in common.
* America’s founding fathers were “spirit babies” who created a “sacred Constitution.”
* Salvation is works-based and not through grace and faith.

This is what Glenn Beck believes. Is the god of this system, this faith, the one he referred to when he stated, “Today, America turns back to God?” Is his god concept one we can turn back to?

For greater insights, visit the Web site of former Mormon and radio guest, Ed Decker. Also visit the apologetics’ site of Eric Barger.

Brannon Howse has done extensive radio programs and written cutting-edge articles on this issue for over a week.

Jim Garlow, a popular and influential pastor who partnered with the Mormon faithful in California to defend traditional marriage, was quoted recently in CNN’s Belief Blog, saying, “I have interviewed persons who have talked specifically with Glenn about his personal salvation — persons extremely well known in Christianity — and they have affirmed (using language evangelicals understand), ‘Glenn is saved. He understands receiving Christ as Savior.’ ”

In short, Mormonism has a different holy book, father, Jesus, concept of grace, salvation, end-times, etc. You cannot be a “saved Mormon.” Evangelicals who should know better already call him a “brother in Christ.” Some of those share the Mormon “dominion” of the earth and this is their connection. Promoting this false end-time theology of making the earth perfect seems to trump everything else. We can’t save the earth and make it perfect. Jesus Christ has to return to do that.

So, was the following the purpose? Brannon Howse has posted a story at his Worldview Weekend site that the LDS Examiner states through Mormon writer Greg West, “As a Mormon, I have to consider an unintended message throughout Beck’s work, which has culminated in this event. That message is: ‘Mormons are Christian believers. Despite nearly two centuries of misrepresentation and religious envy by sectarian Christianity, Beck has achieved the visibility, prominence, and has had the time day after day, week after week, to speak openly and truly about his core beliefs. Those statements of faith have disoriented and confused those who had previously believed the lies about Mormons.”

West has proved our point. “Evangelicals and Mormons Together” will be next. Why not? A Mormon successfully called a nation back to God.

Most who stand with Glenn, however, do not embrace this theology. Some Christian leaders are just deceived and others think it is hip and cool to align themselves with a man who is so prominent and so pro-America.

John McTernan states, “I know Mormonism real well. There is a Mormon prophecy that America is going to be nearly destroyed with the Constitution hanging by a thread. A Mormon savior would arrive and lead the Mormon church to save America. I can see this coming into play real soon. Maybe the revival Beck is talking about is a massive conversion to Mormonism.”

We sincerely hope Glenn Beck will become a true brother in Christ. We can pray to that end and also that Christian leaders will sharpen their discernment and understand the disservice they are doing to the body of Christ by exalting an unsaved man, and allowing him to be a virtual shepherd over millions of Americans who just want to take back America.

Getting a bit indignant, he said, “I can’t spend all of my time with my birth certificate plastered on my forehead.” Jesus said in Matthew 7:20, “Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them.” By supporting Islam over Israel; the building of an Islamic mosque near ground zero; appointing an inordinate number of Muslims to high government positions; and proposing spending tax dollars on remodeling mosques–the American people are getting the picture.

There is a lot more to this. On March 27, 2004, the man who now occupies the Oval Office denied the deity of Christ, defined Christ as Muslims define Him, said there were many ways to eternity, defined sin as “being out of alignment with” his own values”, and defined heaven in Islamic terms. He did so in an interview with Cathleen Falsani, author of “The God Factor: Inside the Spiritual Lives of Public People.” In his own words, he describes his faith in Islamic terms, from an Islamic worldview of Christianity. He said, “Jesus is a historical figure for me, and he’s also a bridge between God and man, in the Christian faith, and one that I think is powerful precisely because he serves as that means of us reaching something higher.”

He said, “There’s the belief, certainly in some quarters, that people haven’t embraced Jesus Christ as their personal savior that they are going to hell…I find it hard to believe that my God would consign four-fifths of the world to hell.” He continued, “I can’t imagine that my God would allow some little Hindu kid in India who never interacts with the Christian faith to somehow burn for all eternity…I think that each of us when we walk into our church or mosque or synagogue are interpreting that experience in different ways, are reading scriptures in different ways and are arriving at our own understanding at different ways and in different phases.”

He concluded, “If all it took was someone proclaiming ‘I believe Jesus Christ and that he died for my sins,’ and that was all there was to it, people wouldn’t have to keep coming to church, would they?” If you have any doubt where the president stands from his own words about his faith, just look at his actions. But the worst of it is that he actually denies the central doctrine of Christianity by saying there is more than one way to heaven. Jesus Christ said in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.” The president gave us his answer in the comment about wearing his birth certificate on his forehead–he was born a Muslim and his fruits bear witness to his faith.
